Tuberculosis, a highly infectious lung disease, although considered as rare in France, still affects almost 5,000 people a year in France (4,866 cases of tuberculosis in France in 2023), with almost 100 cases a year in Isère.
The Isère department already had a lung x-ray vehicle, enabling it to carry out almost 600 x-rays a year. This new 3. 5 ton mobile unit retains the same prerogatives, while organizing “out-of-town” initiatives to better reach people who are often geographically or socially distant from care.
A mobile medical office with an optimized, functional fit-out
This health truck has been designed with particular attention to ergonomic fit-out. The materials used guarantee the durability and robustness essential for intensive use in the field.
The vehicle is divided into two areas:
- A medial office
- A radiography room
Each room has been carefully designed and optimized for the comfort of patients and on-board staff (a doctor, a nurse and a radio manipulator).
The medical office includes :
- an examination couch with plenty of storage space, including a water point
- a large desk to welcome patients
The X-ray room is equipped with all the necessary X-ray equipment.
- Hi-tech and mobile (it is possible to take the X-ray machine outside for outdoor use), the X-ray equipment enables proactive tuberculosis detection, thanks to AI-integrated diagnostic software capable of detecting more than 20 lung pathologies, all with optimum image quality for reliable diagnosis.
- The glass and wall of the X-ray room are radio-protected (X-ray shielding), enabling the X-ray manipulator to observe the patient from his or her control station. This guarantees the safety of professionals, while facilitating their work.
An electric medical bus
One of the strengths of this mobile medical unit is its energy autonomy. Designed and built to run autonomously, it can operate in remote areas with no access to electricity. This reinforces its intervention capacity and effectiveness in screening and public health missions.
